The Munro status of a Scottish mountain may be revoked after a survey

The Munro status of a Scottish mountain may be revoked after a survey using advanced GPS equipment indicated it was below the 3,000 ft mark, something that may interest those looking to don their hiking boots and tick off the list.
G & J Surveys carried out checks on three mountains in the Fisherfields area of the Highlands, with Beinn a'Chlaidheimh being measured at 2,998.5 ft, rather than its previously calculated 3,005 ft.
The Munro Society said it has "undertaken to consider the implications for Munros and Corbetts tables when the Ordnance Survey updates its map of the area".north face denali
That may indicate the society is not necessarily happy to accept the findings, which could create a controversy over the tables.
The other peaks - Munro Ruadh Stac Mor and Corbett Beinn Dearg Mor - had their respective statuses confirmed by the survey at 3,014 ft and 2,973 ft.
If the results are accepted, it will be the second time a mountain has lost Munro Status thanks to G & J surveys showing it to be below 3,000 ft, the other being Sgurr nan Ceannaichean in 2009.

And the Wainwright Walks presenter has named him Zephyr - which means breeze or wind - a name that may have been inspired by the weather while walking on a lofty Lake District fell.
Those keen to follow in the footsteps of the presenter and enjoy the hills written about by Alfred Wainwright may benefit from wearing walking jackets and other gear to help deal with the wind and other weather conditions, particularly with autumn not far off.
Ms Bradbury, who had been surprised and delighted to find herself expecting as she suffers with the fertility-threatening disease endometriosis, described her baby as a "breath of fresh air".
Alfred Wainwright described 214 Lake District fells in his seven pictorial guides, which were written and illustrated by hand during the 1950s and 1960s.moncler down coats
